October's Amazing Autumn Mani Challenge! Day 9: Apple - A England's "Rose Bower"

Day 9 is "apple (red)"… yay! one more excuse to slather on some red polish! (yeah, like I need an excuse!!). I ended up going with a NEW polish (well, new to me), one from my Nail Polish Canada Polish Giveaway prize -- A England's "Rose Bower".

Want to know more about this mani challenge & maybe jump in? Click here!

My original thought for today's mani was Snow White's apple -- so deliciously enticing and evil! Haha! BUT, when I grabbed this polish for the shade, I realized it was kinda linked to Snow White's apple in a 6 Degrees of Separation kinda of way. This polish is part of A England's Burne-Jones Dream Collection (2013). Who the heck is Burne-Jones and what does "Rose Bower" have to do with it?? And how does that play into Snow White?? Well, let me tell you! Edward Burne-Jones was a 19th C British artist rocking the pre-Raphaelite movement. Among his many achievements, he painted The Legend Of Briar Rose panels (4 major ones and 14 in total), inspired by the story of "The Sleeping Beauty" by Brothers Grimm -- who also, incidentally wrote the story of "Snow White"… there ya go!

Here's the panel of The Rose Bower:

So yes, this mani is deep with cultural and artistic reference! LOL

Onto the polish! So as all A England polishes are fantastic, this one was too. The formula and consistency was a dream, very pigmented and soft/buttery to apply. I love it! A England is created by Adina Bodana in the UK and is 3-free, cruelty-free, and vegan -- what's not to love?? Her polishes are inspired by artistic, literary and cultural references -- something I absolutely appreciate! For this mani I used 2 coats of "Rose Bower" and topped with Seche Vite (I wish I had the A England base & top coats!!).
The shade is described on the A England website as, "a true deep rose hue kissed with subtle holographic overtones, a scarlet riot of blooming life to keep the princess company".

I wish these photos captured the beauty of this polish, it is SO much prettier in real life!!

Then I decided to get REALLY crazy and try water decals for the first time ever!! I bought these from the Born Pretty online store last year and totally forgot about them. They were surprisingly easy to use!

Overall, lovelovelove this colour and will definitely wear it again!! Of course, the fact that red is my fav polish colour might have something to do with that!

Where to buy?? A England polishes can be bought directly from their website (though read carefully through their shipping restrictions). In North America you can buy them from Nail Polish Canada, Harlow & Co, and Llarowe.
Oh, and as mentioned before, the kitty nail water decal thingies I bought at the Born Pretty store (as a warning they take FOREVER to ship, even if you pay for faster shipping, I think mine took 2 months). They are super cheap though so if you don't mind waiting, go for it! (note: other people have received orders from them faster, I only ordered once and it took forever, so I guess it varies)

NB: I received this polish in a giveaway through Nail Polish Canada. However, it was not given in exchange for a review, my opinion is completely independent of the giveaway!
